Splash-Managed: World Cup Survivor: How Do Entry Lives Work?

How Entry Lives work in World Cup Survivor — what they are, how the Group Stage counts as one life regardless of how many picks fail, and how lives are lost in the Knockout Stage.

Updated today

Overview

Entry Lives give entrants a buffer against elimination — instead of being knocked out after one wrong pick, they can absorb a set number of losses before their entry is eliminated. This is an optional setting configured by the commissioner.

How It Works

Each entry starts the contest with a set number of lives. Every time you make an incorrect pick (or run out of eligible teams to pick), you lose one life. When all your lives are used up, your entry is eliminated.

  • 1 life (Default) — Eliminated after your first loss.

  • 2 lives — Eliminated after your second loss.

  • 3 lives — Eliminated after your third loss.

How Do Lives Work in the Group Stage?

The Group Stage works differently from the Knockout Stage when it comes to lives. Your 4 Group Stage picks are evaluated together as a single unit — not individually:

  • If all 4 picks advance — no life is lost, your entry moves to the Knockout Stage.

  • If 1, 2, 3, or all 4 picks fail to advance — this counts as one lost life, regardless of how many picks were wrong.

So going 0-for-4 and going 3-for-4 in the Group Stage are treated the same — one lost life. If your contest has 2 or 3 lives, a Group Stage failure does not automatically eliminate you.

How Do Lives Work in the Knockout Stage?

In the Knockout Stage, each incorrect pick costs one life. If Double Pick Rounds are enabled, one or both incorrect picks in that round count as one lost life.

How Do I Know How Many Lives I Have Left?

Your remaining lives are displayed on your entry's pick screen. You can check at any time to see how many you have left before making your next pick.
