Compare on SportsVisio Analytics (at stats.sportsvisio.com) puts two players or two teams next to each other so you can see who's ahead on each stat.
Players or teams
Compare has two modes:
/compare/players: compare two players side by side.
/compare/teams: compare two teams side by side.
Open Compare and choose whether you're comparing players or teams.
How selection works
You compare two at a time: a left side and a right side. Pick a player (or team) for each side and their stats line up in two columns.
You can compare players from different teams: the two sides don't have to be on the same roster.
Selecting inside Compare is deliberate: you choose each side from the pickers on the page. There is no player search inside Compare right now, and the picker may not always show which team a player is on. If you're not sure you've got the right person, open the player's Player Detail page first to confirm, then set up the comparison.
Can I compare more than two at once?
No: Compare is head-to-head, two at a time. To look at another matchup, swap one of the two sides.
Which stats are compared
Compare shows a fixed set of stats for the two sides. You don't pick the stats yourself. Both sides are shown on the same rows so each stat lines up. For what each stat means, see Reading your stats and the rest of the stats glossary.
Why a lower number can be highlighted as "better"
Compare highlights the better value on each row. For most stats a higher number is better, so the higher side is highlighted. But for stats where lower is better: like turnovers: the lower number is the better one, so that side gets highlighted instead. It's working as intended: the highlight always marks the stronger value for that particular stat, not just the bigger number.
Comparing across seasons
You can compare across seasons by choosing the season for each side, so you can put one player's or team's season next to another season.
Exporting or sharing a comparison
To share a comparison, share the page URL from your browser. That link opens the same Compare view. There is no export button on Compare, and no spreadsheet export anywhere in the product yet. See Can I export stats to a spreadsheet? if you need the numbers in a file.
Why can't I see this?
No Compare in your program: Compare is gated by the compare sport feature. If your program's sport doesn't include it, Compare won't appear.
The page flashed then sent you home: pick a program first if none is selected, then reopen Compare.
