We need to verify your identity before you can start using SquareOne in New Zealand

Forms of ID accepted to verify your identity

  • a *valid New Zealand driver licence OR

  • a valid NZ or overseas passport

Verifying your ID is an integral part of our industry leading security practices. We are also obligated to ID our customers as part of our anti-money laundering requirements.

SquareOne uses FaceMatch - an electronic identity verification tool from our trusted third-party provider, RealAML. It captures the image(s) of your face and ID, then passes them onto SquareOne for safe-keeping.

We securely store your ID info solely for the purpose of verifying your identity as per our Privacy Policy.

To upload your ID

  1. Click your initials or profile photo on the top left of your parent wallet. Keep your ID document handy.

  2. Under Settings, hit 'Verify ID'

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts.

How long it will take to verify your ID

Most ID verifications are instantly processed by the identity verification tool. If your ID needs to be reviewed by a human, it can take up to two working days to verify.

If you don't verify your ID

You can skip identity verification at signup and still register your kids but their SquareOne cards are NOT ordered until you have successfully verify your ID.


Also, you cannot top up or load funds until you’ve verified your ID.


I've failed ID verification

No stress - if this happens, we'll get in touch via email and discuss next steps.

* Please note that we do not accept expired NZ driver licences or Kiwi access cards.
