Standard Metrics provides powerful reporting tools to help you understand your portfolio and share insights with your team. Whether you need quick, high-level overviews or detailed exports for offline analysis, our reporting features are designed to be flexible and easy to use.

This guide walks through the reporting options available and best practices for using them effectively.

1. Reports Tab: Custom and Pre-Built Reports

The Reports tab is your main workspace for creating, saving, and managing reports. You can either start from scratch with a fully customizable report or use pre-built templates that cover common investor workflows.

Available Report Types

  • Custom Report: Build a report from scratch using any combination of metrics, investment details, and metadata.

  • Investment Activity Report: Summarize investments made during a specific time period.

  • Schedule of Investments: Generate a complete list of your firm’s investment portfolio.

  • Revenue Growth Report: View revenue data across your portfolio and compare it to prior periods.

  • Runway Report: Review runway data across your portfolio.

Customization and Collaboration

  • Add or remove data points to highlight the metrics most relevant to your needs.

  • Apply filters or adjust columns to focus on specific companies or timeframes.

  • Save reports with clear names and descriptions so others at your firm can quickly understand their purpose.

All reports are saved to the Reports tab, can be refreshed with the latest portfolio data, and exported to Excel for offline analysis or sharing.

2. Exporting from the Portfolio Dashboard

The Portfolio Dashboard provides a high-level overview of your portfolio and allows you to compare data across companies.

You can create and save custom dashboard views by adding filters, adjusting sorting, and selecting the columns that matter most. These saved views make it easy to return to a preferred setup for recurring workflows, such as weekly meetings or monthly reporting.

To export a dashboard view to Excel, click More Actions → Download.

3. Bulk Data Downloads via the Exports Tab

When you need raw data for deeper analysis, the Exports tab provides bulk download options.

You can export:

  • Company Metrics

Metrics for all portfolio companies, adjustable by time range, cadence, and currency.

  • Investment Data

Complete investment details across your portfolio.

Exports are ideal for offline analysis, building financial models, or importing data into other business intelligence tools.

Best Practices

  • Start with templates. Use pre-built reports as a foundation, then customize them to your needs.

  • Keep reports current. Refresh reports before sharing to ensure stakeholders have the latest data.

  • Use clear naming. Save reports and dashboard views with descriptive titles to make them easy for your team to identify and reuse.

  • Export for analysis. Use the Reports tab for presentation-ready reports and the Exports tab for bulk data when working offline.

By combining the Reports Tab, the Portfolio Dashboard, and the Exports Tab, you can create a streamlined reporting workflow that saves time, increases visibility, and ensures your team has the insights needed to make informed decisions.
