Why do I see two charges for Swatch King in the same Shopify invoice?

Updated over a week ago

The occurrence of two charges in a single invoice generally stems from the difference between Shopify's billing date and the specific billing cycle of our app. Here’s how this can happen:

  • Shopify’s Billing Date: Shopify bills you on the same date of every month when you initially subscribed to a paid plan or app. So if you started your Shopify subscription on the 5th of the month, you would expect to receive an invoice from Shopify on or around the 5th of each subsequent month.

  • App’s Billing Cycle: Swatch King, on the other hand, may have a different billing cycle based on when you installed and activated the app. For example, if you activated Swatch King on the 15th, then our app would recognize the period from the 15th of one month to the 14th of the next month as one billing cycle.

Now, let’s put this into context with specific dates:

Imagine Shopify’s next billing date for your store is on August 5th, 2023. However, you activated Swatch King on June 15th, which sets the app’s billing cycle from the 15th of one month to the 14th of the next.

As a result, you would see:

  • One charge for Swatch King from June 15th to July 14th on your August 5th invoice.

  • A second charge from July 15th to August 14th on the same invoice.

This happens because although Shopify consolidates all charges into one invoice based on its own billing date, each app’s usage charges are calculated based on their respective activation dates and cycles.

If the overlapping of these dates and the resulting charges on your invoice are unclear or seem incorrect, please reach out to our support team. We can review your account details together and ensure you’re fully informed about your billing.
