Creating a bracket:

Several sports/activities have the ability to create a bracket (basketball, volleyball, baseball etc.)

  1. Navigate to the page of the activity you want to create a bracket for and select brackets from the menu options on the left:

2. Click on “Manage Brackets” in the top right and “Add Bracket”

3. In the settings give the bracket a name (Make it make sense to the public as to what event this is for), select a category (State, Qualifier, Regular Season), and the type of competition (a team, individual or doubles). Use the check boxes to complete the desired settings.

Creating the layout:

  1. Click on the editor tab.

  2. Click the plus button:

  3. Fill out the series information:

    1. Identifier: Each series has a unique number. Usually start with 1 and add on from there.

    2. Caption: What best signifies the type of round this is

    3. Check if it the championship match

    4. Give the date and time of the event.

    5. Location can be set to the higher seed, TBD, or it can be set manually on this page.

    6. Team: refers to how this will be set. Seed allows you to add the teams by seed. Then they can advance by whatever method you select (Winner, Loser, Remaining Seed etc.)

4. Add all of the series that are needed. They can be set on the grid by using click and drag. To create the lines between games, click the join button that is third from the left. Choose the option needed (most of the time Double Right). This can also be modified by clicking and dragging the height to match the bracket design.

Copying Brackets

1. If you have a template that will be used many times, there is a copy bracket feature. Simply create your template. Then create a new bracket. In the new bracket, go to the editor and click on the “Copy Bracket” icon:

Select the activity and year you want to copy from. Decide if you want to keep the venues and dates. Then select the bracket you want to copy and click copy Then proceed with the instruction steps.

Setting Seeds:

  1. On the groups tab select what group set you wish to use. (This is the class or district set up in the group sets).

  2. Navigate to the teams tab.

  3. In the seed boxes, type in the name of the team to assign to that seed.

  4. Click save

Set teams to bracket:

  1. On the editor tab, click on set teams to bracket

  2. Adjust times and dates on matchups if needed.

Adding Notes

  1. Notes allow you to add text boxes of information and/or links to the bracket. Enter a note by clicking the notes icon.

  2. Enter a height and width dimension for the note text box. This can be adjusted later. The position refers to where it will appear on the grid. Left 0 and top 0 puts the box in the top left. This can be adjusted by clicking and dragging once the note is saved. There are a few options for background color. Enter the text you want into the body section. If you want the box to link to another page or area, enter the url in the link section.

Generating Games:

NOTE: When games are generated the events are created and can will show on school event pages.

  1. Click the games tab

  2. Click on Generate Games. It can take a few minutes for the system to create the games and for them to show on the bracket.

Release brackets to public and schools/teams:

  1. Go to settings

  2. Check the box to release the information to schools and or public. Public brackets will display on the gobound.com website for that activity.
