Scopists & Proofreaders: How Does Stenovate Work?

I am a scopist and/or proofreader. How does Stenovate work?

Updated over a week ago

Stenovate is a transcript management software platform that was designed to help court reporters organize and streamline their transcript production.

Reporters will create what we call a transcript workspace for each transcript that they are working on. Within the workspace, this is where files are uploaded to and downloaded from, due dates are entered, progress is tracked, and teammates (scopists and proofreaders) are added to the job.

Each new member receives a 30-day free trial. Once you sign up for Stenovate, you'll log in and complete your Stenovate profile. Your profile is your first impression and introduction to the Stenovate community. We do have job boards for scopists and proofreaders. You can advertise your services on the job board as often as you would like to, and you may also respond to reporters' posts on the job board as they are looking for help.

When a reporter is in need of assistance, they'll create a post on the job board and all scopists who are on the same CAT software as the reporter will receive an email notification that there is a new job opportunity available. All proofreaders, regardless of software, will receive an email notification that there is a new job opportunity available on the proofreading job board. You are welcome to respond to the post or message them directly through the chat feature.

Once you connect with a reporter, they'll send you an invitation to the job workspace. You will then be able to download the files you need to perform your services. You'll scope or proof the job as you usually would, and you can use the progress toggle within the workspace to notify the reporter of how far along you are throughout the process. They will receive notifications as you make updates. Once you're finished, you will just drop the scoped or proofed file back into the File section of the workspace.
