How to add an additional unit type to a subscription

Learn how to have multiple Unit Types on a Subscription and charge for them.

Updated this week

If a customer needs more space, you can either create a new subscription or add another unit type to their existing subscription. Adding an extra unit type keeps all charges together in a single subscription. This article shows you how to add another unit type and charge for it.

Add an additional unit type to a subscription

  1. In your Backoffice, go to Subscriptions and open the subscription you want to update.

  2. Click Edit unit types.

  3. In the unit types drop‑down, click Add another.

  4. Select the unit size and price you want to add.

  5. Choose when the change should start:

    • Immediately: the new unit type is added straight away.

    • On next renewal: the change takes effect from the customer’s next billing date.

    • Backdated: the change is applied from a date in the past.

  6. Review the preview to check the updated charges.

  7. Confirm the changes.

💡 If you choose Immediately, the customer is charged as soon as you confirm the changes. You can see a full breakdown of the charges on the preview screen.

After adding the unit type, allocate the new unit to the subscription ↗ so the customer has access to the correct unit.
