Stora can work alongside your existing website so you can keep your current design while using Stora for bookings and payments. Use this setup if you already have a website or want one built separately. This article explains the different ways to connect your website to Stora and how to link to the right pages.
Direct Stora to your existing website
You can tell Stora to use your existing website as your main homepage, while still using Stora for bookings and payments.
To set this up:
Go to your Stora website configuration page.
Select Use your current website with Stora for bookings.
Enter your existing website address, such as
westorestorage.com.Save your changes.
When visitors navigate to your homepage from Stora, they will now be taken to your existing website.
💡 If you do not have a website yet, you can skip this step and return to it once your site is live.
Set Stora up on a subdomain of your existing domain
You can run your Stora Storefront on a subdomain of your existing domain. For example: bookings.westorestorage.com.
It is important to set up your subdomain before you start linking from your website to Stora. Otherwise, you will need to update your links later.
To set up a subdomain with Stora:
Decide what you want your subdomain to be, such as
bookings.yourstorename.com.Contact your onboarding rep or Stora Support to request the subdomain.
Join the onboarding call to confirm the details.
During the call, we will provide DNS records for you to add in your domain management tool.
Add the DNS records to your domain provider.
Wait for confirmation from Stora that your subdomain is live.
Once your DNS changes have propagated and we confirm the setup, your Stora Storefront will be available on your chosen subdomain.
Linking your website to Stora
Once your configuration is ready, you can add links from your existing website to Stora. Every Site, unit type, unit type group and unit type booking form in Stora has its own unique URL.
Why we recommend linking to Site pages
You can link directly to unit types if you want to, but we recommend linking to your Site pages instead.
There are two main reasons:
When you change a unit type name, the unit type URL changes. You would then need to update all links on your website to match.
When you delist a unit type in Stora, any direct links to that unit type will no longer work. Visitors will hit a broken link on your website.
A Site page in Stora always shows the current list of units for that site, even when you rename or delist unit types. Linking to the Site page avoids broken links and keeps your website in sync.
💡 The same issue applies if you rename a Site in Stora. Review your links whenever you change Site names.
Examples of URLs you can link to
Here are some example URLs you might link to from your website:
Example Site page URL:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/belfast-self-storage-unitsExample unit type page URL:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/belfast-self-storage-units/25-sq-ftExample unit type group page URL:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/westore-self-storage-units/groups/indoor-small-unitExample unit type booking form URL:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/belfast-self-storage-units/25-sq-ft/bookings/new
