While Stora gives you a homepage and sub-pages you can customise, and we plan to keep giving you more ways to change your Stora web presence to fit your needs, we appreciate that today, it might not give you the flexibility you require.
That's why we make it easy for you to use Stora as a bookings and payments website to which you connect your existing or new website. This guide explains the different ways you can link to Stora.
Direct Stora to your existing website
To start, visit your Stora website configuration page, select "Use your current website with Stora for bookings", and enter your existing website address (such as westorestorage.com).
Now, when your visitors navigate to your Homepage from Stora, they are taken to your other site. If you haven't got one yet, feel free to leave this step until later.
Set Stora up on a subdomain of your existing domain
For example bookings.westorestorage.com
.
It's important to set up your subdomain before you start linking from your website to Stora; otherwise, you will need to update these links later.
This subdomain is created by the Stora team who will then provide DNS properties to be added to your domain management tool. You should not create a subdomain separately.
It's up to you what this subdomain should be. Once you've decided, we recommend you complete our Onboarding form, where you'll be asked to provide this info, among other things, to help us best onboard you. Alternatively, chat with support for guidance on the next steps.
An onboarding call will be scheduled. During this call, we'll provide properties to enter into your DNS to complete the subdomain set-up.
Linking your website to Stora
Now that's all setup, it's ultimately up to you and your web developers how you link to Stora. Every site, unit type, and unit type booking form has a unique URL that you can link to as you see fit.
That being said, we recommend that you link to your Site or Sites pages rather than directly to unit types. That's because:
When you change a unit type name, it changes the URL, meaning you will have always to ensure your existing website URLs match
When you delist a unit type from Stora, you will have to remove it from your website, too; otherwise, the visitor will hit a dead link
The benefit of linking to Site Pages
A site page in Stora always lists the units in their correct form, so linking to it avoids the above scenarios. (However, note that the same issue will arise if you rename a Site in Stora.)
Whatever approach you choose, all you'll need to do is visit the relevant page(s) in your Stora Storefront in your browser, copy the URL(s) from your browser and have them added to your existing website.
Example URL you'd like to a Site page:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/belfast-self-storage-units
Example URL you'd like to a Unit Type page:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/belfast-self-storage-units/25-sq-ft
Example URL you'd like to a Unit Type Booking Form page:
https://bookings.westorestorage.com/sites/belfast-self-storage-units/25-sq-ft/bookings/new
