What do I do if YouTube flags my audio content?

If YouTube flags your video that uses audio content from the Storyblocks library, we’re here to help.

1. Add your YouTube Channel ID to your Storyblocks account

First, make sure that your YouTube Channel ID has been added to your Storyblocks account. To do this, log in to Storyblocks, then go to My Account. If you scroll down, you’ll see the My YouTube Channels section where you can add your Channel ID.

When we have you YouTube Channel ID, this allows us to whitelist your account so you’re more protected against copyright claims. Having this information up to date also helps us avoid claim processing delays and makes the process of getting a claim much smoother.

When we have your YouTube Channel ID, we’re able to resolve most claims automatically within 30 minutes with no additional action required by you.

If the claimant is HAAWK, claims are typically cleared within 1-2 business days if your Channel ID has been added to your account. If it’s been more than 2 business days and your claim has not been cleared, please submit a claim dispute form or reach out to our support team.

2. Submit a form to dispute a copyright claim

If you’ve already added your YouTube Channel ID to your account and your claim has not been resolved, you can submit a Claims Dispute Form. We’re usually able to resolve claims submitted through a form within 72 hours.

[Button: Submit A Claim]

When you submit a claim dispute please make sure that your video is published as Public or Unlisted so the claim can be resolved - if your video is set to Private, the claimant cannot review the dispute or drop the claim.

If you don’t see the claimant listed on the form drop-down menu, you should file a dispute directly through YouTube.

If it’s been over 72 hours since you’ve submitted your claim dispute form and the claim has not been cleared, please reach out to our support team for assistance.

Troubleshooting claims

HAAWK, Storyblocks' rights management partner, manages Content ID claims for music licensed through the platform. Claims from HAAWK are often auto-released for whitelisted YouTube channels; however, some situations may require additional actions from the user to resolve claims.

If your YouTube Channel ID is invalid or not recognized when you add it to the claims dispute form, you can still submit your form. Just be sure to include the URL of the video under copyright claim and the claimant’s name as listed in the claim notice. Storyblocks will forward this information to the claimant - just be aware that it may take several business days to get a response.

While your claim is open, be sure to keep records of all communication with Storyblocks and any claimants to track progress.

Note: If you have Content ID enabled on your YouTube page, you may only claim your 100% original created content on Content ID. You may not claim any 3rd party materials, including materials you licensed through Storyblocks. Our license agreement explicitly prohibits the use of our materials on Content ID.
