Updating a Client's Email Address
You can update a client's email address from their Person page in Street which can be found quickly via the global search at the top of any page in Street. Once on the person page, click 'Edit Person' at the top right.
From here, you can edit their email address field and click 'Save Person'.
In most cases this will update immediately in Street and their consumer account will automatically update so they can log in to their Street account using that new email address.
However, there are a few scenarios where it's not as straight forward and you may see an error or an information box.
Error - Using an email address that already exists in your network
When creating a person, or editing their email address, you may see the error message 'A person in your network already exists with that email address'.
This error message means another person record in your network already has that email address. Street enforces a single source of truth, so two people in the same network cannot share the same email.
To resolve this error, you should search for the existing person record. In most cases, you should use that existing record rather than duplicating. However if the existing person record is no longer needed, you can delete it which will free up the email address so you can assign it to the correct person.
Important Note - Deleting a person is permanent and cannot be reversed. You will lose any historic data relating to that person.
Information box - The email exists in another Street network
When editing a person's email address, you may also see an information box appear showing the message 'This email address already exists'.
This is slightly different to the email exists error message and means that the email address already exists on a consumer's Street account, but it belongs to a person using a different estate agency that also uses Street.
In this case, you can proceed with the change and the client will receive an email to their new email address asking them to confirm the changes. Until the client confirms the change, you will see a yellow warning icon next to their email address.
Once the has confirmed the changed they will receive a confirmation email, their existing Street account will be merged with your agency's record and they'll be able to see your property updates and information using the single log in.
Additionally, the agent who requested the change will receive a notification in Street confirming the change has been confirmed.
Note - Until the client confirms the change they won't be able to see any information your agency shares with them through Street using that email address.
