What is Zapier
Often described as a translator between web APIs, Zapier is a product that allows end users to set up workflow rules to determine how its automations function. It orchestrates the flow of data between tools and online services that wouldn't otherwise communicate with one another.
This article explains how to setup the integration between Zapier and Street and we are using a Google form as an example for demonstration purposes.
How does the integration work
With the integration setup, you can direct information that is captured from an external source into your enquiry centre in Street, via your Zapier account. These enquiries will show as a 'general enquiry' however you can setup an 'enquiry source' during the integration that will show in the source field.
To setup the integration you will need a Zapier account.
How to setup a Zapier integration
In this example, we are going to show how you could setup a Zapier integration with a Google form, so that the data capture in your Google form is passed through to your Street enquiry centre, however you could set this up for anything you like.
To get started, log in to Zapier and click 'create zap' to setup a new zap:
Trigger
First, click / search for the relevant trigger. In our example, we'll click on 'Google forms':
On the "trigger" page, in the 'app & event' section, you need to set the 'event'. In our example, we'll use 'new form response':
In the 'account' section, you need to connect your account to create the link. In our example, we'll use our Google account:
In the 'trigger' section, you need to select the relevant trigger for the integration. In our example, we'll use our 'Street enquiry form':
Finally, click the 'test' section and click 'test trigger':
You will then see a breakdown of some example data. In our example, we've already submitted some responses from a Google form and these can be seen:
Now the 'trigger' step has been setup.
Action
The next step in the process is to setup the 'action' process, ie what should happen after the event has been trigged. Click into the 'action' tile, search for 'Street' and select the 'Street.co.uk Enquiries' action:
In the 'app & event' section, select the event 'create enquiry':
IMPORTANT - Please make sure you are logged in to Street before the next step.
Click 'sign in' and authorize Zapier to connect to your Street account:
Click “approve” and then you should be connected to Street:
In the 'action' section, we can map the fields from our external source to Zapier. In our example, we're mapping the name, email, telephone and message fields:
Once setup, you can check everything is working correctly by clicking 'test step'
This should then populate the enquiry details into your Street enquiry centre:
How do enquiries come through to Street
Once a Zapier integration is setup, any enquiries that are submitted through your external source will pass through Zapier and appear in your Enquiry Centre.
Your enquiry centre can be found on the left side panel:
These enquiries will appear as a 'general enquiry' and, if you have setup an 'enquiry source' as outlined above, the source field will show with that custom source.
