Transferring Funds Between Ledgers
The transfer funds between ledgers feature allows you to move money from one ledger to another within Street's client accounting system. This is useful when funds are sitting on an owner ledger (or float) but need to be used elsewhere, for example moving money from one landlord property to cover a charge on another.
Note - If you're looking to transfer funds between bank accounts, see our bank transfer article here.
How to Transfer Funds
To get started, head to an owner ledger and click Actions > Transfer Funds.
Step 1 - Choose your source
First select whether you want to transfer from the Available Funds on the ledger or from the Float. The current balance of each is shown alongside the option so you can see exactly what's available.
Step 2 - Choose your destination
Next, select whether you want to transfer to a Property or a Tenancy, then use the search box to find the relevant one.
If you're transferring to a property, you'll then be asked whether to send the funds to its Ledger or its Float.
Step 3 - Enter the transfer details
Next, enter the amount you'd like to transfer (this cannot exceed the available balance on your source account) and add a description. The description will appear on both ledgers as a reference, so it's worth being specific.
Before confirming, you'll see a preview showing exactly how the balances on both the source and destination accounts will look after the transfer.
Step 4 - Confirm
Finally, click Confirm Transfer and a debit entry will be created on the source account and a credit entry on the destination account.
