Transferring Funds between Bank Accounts

The transfer between bank accounts feature allows you to move funds from one bank account in Street to another. It is advised to make the transfer from your bank accounts at the same time as transferring in Street.

An example of where this may be useful is if you have multiple client accounts and need to move money between them. You can simply transfer the funds to ensure Street matches what's happening in your physical bank account and then reconcile when you import your bank statements.

Note - If you're looking to transfer funds between ledgers, see our ledger transfer help article.

To transfer funds between bank accounts, head to the Bank Accounts page (left side panel, in the Accounting section) and click the three dot menu on the account > Transfer.

Note - To access the the Bank Accounts page to process a bank transfer you will need to have the Company Admin role and have the permission 'Allow this user to manage client accounting' enabled.

For more information, see our Roles and Permissions help article.

The 'transfer from' bank will pre-populate using the bank you selected to transfer from. You will need to select the bank to transfer to from the drop down.

With the bank selected, enter the amount to transfer and a description that will appear on both accounts in the Account Transactions page. The description defaults to "Bank Transfer" but you can update this to something more specific if needed. You will also see the breakdown of how each account's balance will update following the transfer.

When you're ready to proceed, click Confirm Transfer and the funds will move between accounts. This will create a debit on the 'from' account and a credit on the 'to' account. These transactions can then be reconciled after importing your bank statement.
