What are Permitted Occupiers?

A permitted occupier is an individual authorised by the landlord to live at the rented property but isn't the tenant. A permitted occupier is not a party of the tenancy agreement. This means that the legal relationship of the tenancy is only between the landlord and the tenant.

The only places you can add a permitted occupier to a tenancy are from the the lettings offer, when creating the tenancy or on an existing tenancy.

It is not possible to add permitted occupiers at the lettings application stage. If you trying to add a permitted occupier on the application page, go back to the lettings offer instead and add them there.

How to add Permitted Occupiers to a tenancy in Street

Note - When adding a permitted occupier, they must be a 'person' in your network. If needed, you can just create a new person when adding them.

If creating a tenancy directly from the property page or via a lettings application, you'll see the option to add a permitted occupier below the 'tenants' section by clicking add new permitted occupier.

If you have an existing tenancy and need to add the permitted occupier, head to the tenancy page > tenancy details tab > add new permitted occupier.

Any permitted occupiers will show on the tenancy page in the 'contact details' card on the right hand side.

How to add permitted occupiers to a lettings offer

If you are creating a lettings offer that includes permitted occupiers, these can be entered on the lettings offer page.
