Quick Start Guide
Get your first subscription up and running in under 10 minutes. This guide walks you through the essential steps to start accepting recurring payments.
Before You Begin
Make sure your store meets these requirements:
Payment Gateway | Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal Express, or Authorize.net |
Sales Channel | Online Store or Custom Storefront |
Products | At least one product to offer as subscription |
Note: Other payment gateways do not support recurring billing on Shopify.
Step 1: Install the App
Install Subscribfy from the Shopify App Store
Approve the requested permissions
Wait for the initial sync to complete (this may take a few minutes)
You'll see a banner while syncing: "The application is synchronizing with your shop in the background."
Step 2: Choose Your Path
Subscribfy offers two types of subscriptions. Choose based on your business model:
Membership | Customers pay a recurring fee for perks like discounts, free shipping, or store credits |
Product Subscription | Customers subscribe to receive products automatically (Subscribe & Save) |
You can use both at the same time.
Path A: Create a Membership
From the Subscribfy dashboard, click Edit Membership
Create a VIP tier (e.g., "Gold Member")
Set the price and billing frequency
Add perks (discount, free shipping, store credits)
Save and publish
Your membership product will appear in your store. Customers can purchase it like any other product.
Path B: Create a Product Subscription
From the Subscribfy dashboard, click Add Product
Choose "Regular subscription"
Select the products to offer as subscriptions
Set the delivery frequency (e.g., every month)
Add a subscriber discount (optional)
Save
The subscription option will appear on your product pages.
Step 3: Test Your Setup
Visit your store as a customer
Find a subscription product
Add it to cart with the subscription option selected
Complete a test checkout
Tip: Use Shopify's test mode or Bogus Gateway for testing without real charges.
