If you have already added your logo and cover image (see the article “How can I customize the branding of my sunday interface?”), this step helps you to create a consistent visual identiiy across the entire guest journey.
1. Typography setup (Headlines, Body, Buttons)
Typography isn’t just about design, it directly impacts readability and the overall guest experience. sunday allows you to customize different text elements:
Headlines: Use a bold or stylized font for menu categories and welcome messages. This is one of the fitst things guests see and helps establish your brand right away.
Body Text: Prioritize readability here. A clean, simple font makes dish descriptions and cart details easy to ready, even on smaller screens.
Buttons: Customize the font used for calls to action (CTAs). A clear, bold font on buttons like "Pay" helps guide guests smoothly throughout checkout.
2. Uploading your own fonts
If the default system fonts don’t meet your needs, you can upload your own in Appearance > Fonts.
Supported format: Fonts must be in .WOFF2 format. This web-optimized format ensures fast loading without slowing down the guest experience.
Flexible imports: If you have .TTF or .OTF files (commonly used for print), you can convert them to .WOFF2 and upload them. This helps keep your digital and printed materials consistent.
3. Customizing colors with Hexadecimal (HEX) codes
For brands with specific guidelines, you can enter exact HEX color codes (e.g., #EE7203) instead of using the color picker.
Brand consistency: You can enter the exact color code from your brand guidelines (e.g., #EE7203). Applying your brand colors to key elements like buttons and highlights have a big impact.
Contrast and Accessibility: Adjust text colors (black, dark gray, white, etc.) to ensure strong contrast against backgrounds. This is especially important for readability in bright environments like outdoor seating.
4. Draft mode & mobile preview
Make updates confidently without impacting your live guest experience:
Real-Time Editing: Adjust fonts and colors in draft mode without affecting what guests currently see.
Mobile Preview: Since 100% of guests use sunday on their phones, you can preview how your design looks on mobile to ensure everything displays correctly.
Controlled Publishing: Changes only go live when you switch from Draft to Public, giving you full control before publishing.
5. Built in troubleshooting & recommendations
The platform includes tools to help maintain a smooth and reliable experience:
Font validation: The system checks that uploaded font files are valid and display correctly.
Readability guidance: If your design choices impact usability, you may see recommendations to adjust or revert to standard fonts, ensuring that design never gets in the way of ordering.
