Menus: How should I format my menu?

Your menu format depends on the type of menu you use in sunday.

If you use a dynamic menu, your menu is created in sunday or synchronized from a compatible POS. You do not need to upload a PDF.
If you use a PDF menu, follow the formatting guidelines in this article.
If you use an external menu, you can add a link to a menu hosted outside sunday.

PDF menu guidelines

Before uploading a PDF menu, check that it is easy to read on a mobile device and displays correctly on the landing page.

File format and size

Upload your menu as a PDF file.

Keep the file size as small as possible. If your PDF contains layers, flatten them before exporting the final file.

Margins

Add a margin of approximately 0.5 cm, or 0.2 in, on all sides of your PDF menu.

This helps keep enough space between the landing page background and the menu content.

Orientation

Use portrait orientation whenever possible.

The menu display has a fixed width. If you upload a landscape PDF, it may be resized to fit the screen and become difficult to read.

Because the height of the menu can vary, portrait orientation provides more vertical space while minimizing horizontal resizing.

Pages

If you have several menus, you can upload them as separate menus so that they appear as separate tabs on the landing page.

Each PDF menu should preferably be formatted as one continuous page rather than split across several pages. This makes navigation easier on mobile devices.

Before publishing your PDF menu

Open your menu on a mobile device and check that:

The text is easy to read.
No content is cut off.
The menu uses portrait orientation.
The margins are respected.
Images and links are displayed correctly.
The correct menu is assigned to the relevant location or service.
