Menus: How should I format my menu?

Follow these guideline to make sure your menus look as good as possible on the landing page

Updated over a week ago

Before you upload your menus, it is best to make sure they will display as clearly as possible. Here are some tips to help you create the perfect design:

Format:

All menus need to be uploaded as a PDF file and the file size should be as small as possible. If you are using layers, you should flatten them before saving as PDF.

Margins:

It is best to add a margin of 0.5cm to all sides of your menu to keep some space between the background of the landing page and your menu content.

Orientation:

Any menu that you upload should be in portrait orientation.

The menu display has a fixed width, so if you upload a landscape menu it will be resized to fit and become difficult to read.

However as the length is variable a portrait menu will allow you unlimited space vertically with minimum resizing horizontally so will still be easy to read.

Font size:

The optimum font size will depend on the overall dimensions and the layout of your menu, however we recommend that the main text is a minimum of 16pt for A5 menus and 18pt for A4 menus to keep them as easy to read as possible. Secondary text should be 2pts lower and headers can be any larger size.

Pages:

To keep navigations simple you can upload different menus that will show as different tabs on the landing page. However each menu should be formatted as one long page, rather than over multiple pages.
