Role: Administrator, Editor, and Viewer.

Use the Files page in the Xpedition Viewer application to download a copy of one or more ancillary files associated with a project from the cloud to your local machine and then view and modify the file's content locally without affecting the file stored in the cloud. You can also download the contents within a folder or subfolder to your local machine.

For example, vendor part specifications or scheduling information associated with a project may require periodic updates. Instead of uploading new files, you can download one or more files to your local machine for editing with standard desktop tools.

Prerequisites

  • There are one or more ancillary files or folders containing files associated with a project (see Uploading Files to a Folder). The software generates a warning message if a .zip file is malformed or exceeds the file size limit.

  • You selected a project name and version and the Files page displays in the Xpedition Viewer application for the project you selected.

Procedure

Perform the following operations to download files or folders containing files to your local machine:

Downloading one file.

Downloading one or more files.

  1. Click (in Table View mode) or double-click (in Tile View mode) a filename.

  2. When the object appears in the viewer, click Download.

The file saves to your local machine. Upon completion, open the file using desktop tools that are compatible with the type and content of the file.

  1. Select a filename or Ctrl-click to select one or more filenames in the Project Files page and click Download.

If you selected two or more filenames, the files are compressed into a <project_name>.zip file.

Upon completion, open the file using desktop tools that are compatible with the type and content of the file. If you saved two or more files, unzip the compressed file on your local machine, and then open the files using standard desktop tools.

  1. Select one or more folder names in the Project Files page and click Download Current Folder.

    Download Current Folder

The folder and files within the folder are compressed into a <project_name>.zip file.

  2. Depending on your default web browser, verify the .zip file to download, where to save the file to your machine, and then click OK.

Upon completion, unzip the compressed file on your local machine and then open the folders and files using standard desktop tools.
