Supported Tier: Standard.
Role: Administrator, Editor, and Viewer.
Use the Collaboration panel in the Xpedition Viewer application to review and annotate feedback on schematic and PCB design representations. Collaboration team members and approved guest viewers can create markup annotations within the schematic or PCB design viewer and respond to the markups from other reviewers.
All markups have status tracking which ensures timely resolution of issues during a review. All annotations, markups, and responses are saved with the current design version which enables traceability of issue resolutions and design history tracking.
Prerequisites
You have access to a project with an associated 2D schematic or layout design (.cce files) in the Xpedition Viewer application (Standard tier).
You are a member of a project collaboration team defined by the administrator of the project (see User Roles).
Procedure
Open the design in the 2D schematic viewer or the PCB viewer.
In Table View mode, click the schematic or layout filename.
In Tile View mode, double-click the schematic or layout filename tile or select the tile and click View.Click Collaboration to display the Collaboration pane.
Collaboration Pane
If you have a multi-sheet or multi-layered design, select the layer or sheet from the dropdown list.
Select a markup object type from the top toolbar in the Collaboration pane. The pane color changes to gray and the software prompts you to add the markup to the design view.
Use the viewer controls to navigate to an area of the design.
Drag the cursor over the area where you want to place the markup object.
When the Markup dialog box displays, type the comment you want to add to the design.
Tip: You can adjust the markup styling using the shape, color, and line controls in the Collaboration panel.(Optional) Use the Note field to enter information that supplements the comment that will be added to the markup. When you click More Options, you can add and associate the following references to the notes associated with the markup:
- Reference URL (click Add Reference URL) — Adds a link to information, such as data sheets, vendor websites, and manufacturer part lists.
- Associated Design Objects (click Add Design Object) — Adds references to design objects, such as components and nets, that provide more details on your feedback.
- Associated Views (click Add View) — Adds coordinates that define a specific area of a design that relate to the feedback you provided. When saved, other design reviewers can click the coordinates to display the contents of the saved view.
- Tags (click Add Tag) — Adds a label to markup objects which makes them easier to find and group. For example, in a layout design, you can tag all the mechanical issues and group them, so the mechanical engineering team can quickly find and address these issues.
Repeat Steps 4 through 8 to add more markup objects to the design.
When your design review is complete:
- Click Close to save your markups in Draft status without publishing to the design review team. You can reopen the Collaboration session with your saved markups at a later time.
- Click Publish to save your markups in Submitted status and make them available for review by the design review team.
