Key information to note:

  • The Switch don't accept cash so your bond must be paid via direct debit or bank transfer in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

  • You must complete your bond payment prior to your lease start date in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

  • Due to the complex requirements in Sydney, you are allowed to pay your bond via RBO prior to lease start date, upon check-in or within 4 weeks after check-in. RBO don't accept cash payment but only Visa, MasterCard payment or BPAY.

At The Switch we require a bond payment equivalent to 4 weeks’ rent from our tenants under residential tenancy agreement. Each state has specific requirements around how you can pay the bond so please be mindful that the process may be varied depends on which building you have signed a tenancy agreement.

Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne

If you have set up direct debit through the initial deposit payment email your bond will be charged 4 weeks prior to your lease start date. You can check the payment date and status via The Switch mobile app.

If you haven't set up direct debit when you sign your lease, you will have the below two options:

1) Download The Switch app and set up your bank account or card details via The app so we can charge your bond amount via the app. You will need to email us once you have set this up so we can initial the charge from our payment system.

2) Make a manual bank transfer to us and send us the remittance proof.

Once your payment is received, our team will lodge your bond and you will need to accept your bond via an email. Please in each state the name of bond administrator is different:

  • Western Australia - BondsOnline

  • South Australia - CBS

  • Victoria - RTBA

Sydney

The Switch Sydney uses the online services provided by Fair Trading to manage bonds. You are required to pay your 4 weeks' bond directly via RBO - rental bonds online in NSW.

Prior to your check-in date, The Switch will create your payment request via the RBO portal and there will be an email sent to you for you to complete the registration and payment like this:

You can complete this process only if you have the below two important things:

  • You have a valid bank account in Australia with BSB and account number.

  • You have a valid mobile phone number in Australia.

If you do, please follow the email link to complete payment for your bond with RBO. If you don't, please make sure you will open a bank account and get your mobile number set up. Our team can assist you with a new email link once you have these two ready.

There is information available in each state government's website for you to understand the process. If you would like to find out more about what is a bond and specific information in each state, below are useful links that you can refer to:
