If your partner (or anyone) has booked with Sync and you want to be included as a second driver, you need to have your own Sync account with full ID verification. The process is done entirely from the app - no office visit or paperwork required.
⚡ ID verification is a prerequisite. In order for the primary customer to add you as a second driver, your Sync account must already be verified. You cannot be added unless verification is completed first.
Step by step
Create a Sync account (if you don’t already have one)Download the Sync app, select “Sign Up” and fill in your details. You need an email, mobile phone and password.
Open verification from your AccountTap the Account tab in the bottom right of the app. You will see the “Driver’s License Verification” card — tap Verify Now.
Select your documentDriver's license is preferred, but the following are also accepted:
Driver's license (recommended)
Passport
Police ID
Note: If you are under 25 and using a police ID, you will also be asked for your driver's license to confirm the date of issue (at least 1 year of validity required).
Follow the Veriff processThe app opens Veriff, the specialized verification provider that Sync uses. Take a photo of your document and a selfie according to the instructions. The process usually takes a few minutes.
Wait for approvalVerification is completed automatically by the system. You will receive a notification in the app once your account is approved.
The primary customer adds you to the reservationOnce your account is verified, your companion opens the reservation in their app, goes to the trip page, and adds you as a second driver using your email or phone number in Sync.
What you can do as a second driver
As an additional driver, you have access to the basic details of the reservation and can take actions on the car:
View dates, vehicle, and pickup/drop-off location
View available mileage
Check in and check out the car
You don’t have access to financial details, and you can’t cancel or change the reservation - these actions belong to the primary customer.
Are you covered by insurance?
Yes. As an additional driver, you are fully covered by the protection plan chosen by the primary customer. No separate plan is required.
When can I be added?
Adding a second driver is only possible when the booking is in Confirmed or Active status. If the booking has not yet been confirmed or has been completed/cancelled, it is not possible to add.
Common issues
My verification was rejected. Each account is allowed 3 attempts per booking. If the photo was blurry or the document was illegible, the attempt will not be counted. Make sure you are using good lighting and that the document is valid.
The primary customer cannot find me. Make sure they are using the exact email or phone number you have registered in Sync, and that your account is already verified.
I have a license less than 1 year old. If you are up to 25 years old with a license issued less than 1 year ago, you are not eligible to be verified as a driver on Sync at this time.
