AutoPay: Do I need to pay a bill from my insurance company if I selected AutoPay

This article is for employees enrolled in a health insurance plan using AutoPay through Take Command Health’s HRA Hub platform (ICHRA or QSEHRA setups where AutoPay is enabled).

Written by Support

No, if you are enrolled in AutoPay through Take Command Health, you do not need to pay the bill your insurance company sends because your premium is already being paid through the AutoPay system.

Why you still receive a bill from your insurance company

You will still get a bill even when AutoPay is active.

Insurance carriers always send monthly billing statements, even when payment is handled through AutoPay.

This is normal and expected.

However:

  • The bill is informational only

  • Payment is handled separately through Take Command’s AutoPay system

  • You do not need to pay the carrier directly

Do you need to pay the bill?

No — do NOT pay it if AutoPay is active.

If your plan is enrolled in AutoPay:

  • ❌ Do not submit payment directly to the insurance carrier

  • ❌ Do not set up separate manual payments

  • ❌ Do not pay the invoice unless explicitly instructed

Your premium is already being paid through the AutoPay system managed by Take Command.

What AutoPay is doing in the background

AutoPay works by:

  1. Funding a payment account from the employer or system

  2. Sending premium payments to the insurance carrier on your behalf

  3. Maintaining ongoing monthly coverage automatically

This ensures:

  • No out-of-pocket payment for employees (in supported setups)

  • No need to manually pay monthly premiums

  • Coverage remains active without employee action
