We’re excited that you’ve chosen to partner with TalkingPoints via the TalkingPoints Connector SFTP server! TalkingPoints Connector is the TalkingPoints direct integration tool that uses the OneRoster v1.1 data spec. Follow the steps below to get started.
Connect with TalkingPoints Connector
Step 1: Share the following with the TalkingPoints team:
Tech Point person's name
Tech Point person's email address
Step 2: You will receive an email from noreply@us-east-1.rosterstream.com. Click on 'Setup Connection' and log in using the verification code.
Step 3: Generate your password.
Compile .csv files and Send Data
Here is a link to our OneRoster file templates to guide you in compiling, formatting, and sending your data.
Step 1: Pull the following files from your SIS:
"academicSessions.csv"
"classes.csv"
"courses.csv"
"enrollments.csv"
"orgs.csv"
"users.csv"
This file must include student, staff, and contact/guardian/relative data
Home Language data must be added onto the end of the users file as metadata.homeLanguage
ELL Status (optional) can be added onto the end of the users file as metadata.ell
“demographics.csv”
Only plan to send this data if you're planning to use Student Messaging.
Step 2: Schedule all files for delivery to the TalkingPoints Connector SFTP server at the same time. You may send the files as a compressed (.zip) archive or as individual files. Regardless of the format, all files must be included in the same scheduled transfer.
TalkingPoints Login and Data Check
The TalkingPoints team will review to ensure that all data required is present and initiate the TalkingPoints instance creation. Once the site is created, the TalkingPoints team will notify you and your team.
Step 1: Log into TalkingPoints at https://app.talkingpts.org/districts using your preferred sign-in method to verify your data.
To ensure that TalkingPoints email notifications can be sent to staff members who choose to receive digest emails, please whitelist mandrillapp.com
Step 2: Work with your TalkingPoints Partner Success Manager on the TalkingPoints rollout plan for your school or district.
