ℹ️ These updates are for teachers and staff using the free version of TalkingPoints via a personal teacher account. If you're a teacher at a TalkingPoints partner school or district, navigate here!

IMPORTANT: New for the 2026-27 school year ⭐

All families must use the TalkingPoints Family app starting October 19, 2026 to receive communication from educators using a free TalkingPoints for Teachers account.

As of October 19, 2026, educators using the free TalkingPoints app will no longer be able to use SMS text to communicate with families. All communication with families will go through the free TalkingPoints App for Families.

In the app, families will be able to:

  • See all conversations and messages in one place.

  • Get instant notifications when new messages are sent.

  • Share photos and videos, communicate in 150+ languages, and get plain-language explanations of K-12 jargon — so every message is clear and easy to understand.

As you think about your back-to-school plans, please encourage your families to download the free TalkingPoints for Families application via the Apple App Store or the via the Google Play Store.

If your school or district is a TalkingPoints partner (paid subscription) nothing changes. You can expect:

  • Your current messaging experience to continue as-is

  • District-supported messaging workflows to stay the same

  • SMS text messaging to remain available to teachers and families
