Tardy Tracking

Learn how to track tardies in the Attendance product, including how to create custom tardy views.

Updated this week

For: School Admins
Platform: Web (School Product – Attendance)

🎏 This feature is currently behind a flag in our product. We expect for it to be available to Attendance Partners extremely soon.

Overview

You can now track tardies in the Attendance module. This helps you:

  • Add tardy tracking to your attendance dashboard to quickly spot trends

  • Send attendance messages directly from tardy segments

  • Encourage families to get tardy students to school

In order to fully enable this feature, your school or district needs to have purchased the Attendance Improvement Plus package, and ensure that they're sending TalkingPoints the correct data to enable tardy tracking.

This feature is currently in the early-adopter phase where we're learning how to best implement with partners ahead of back-to-school 2026.

Please reach out to [partnersupport@talkingpts.org] to learn how to enable tardy tracking.

Track Tardies on the Attendance Dashboard ⏰

You’ll now see a “Total tardies” column in the Attendance dashboard list.

This makes it easier to:

  • Identify students with repeated tardies

  • Take action before patterns become bigger issues

Create a Custom Attendance View for Tardies 🧱

You can build custom cards to track students by Number of tardies.

To create a custom tardy view:

  1. Go to Attendance.

  2. Find Custom attendance views.

  3. Click Add new view.

  4. Select Number of tardies from the dropdown.

  5. Enter your threshold (for example: 5 tardies).

  6. Save your view.

Your new card will appear on the dashboard.

📌 Tip: This is helpful for schools or districts that use tardy thresholds to count toward full-day absences.

Why This Matters 💡

TalkingPoints knows that schools often care about:

  • Which class periods have the most absences

  • Patterns across specific times of day

  • Students who are frequently tardy

This feature helps you see trends clearly, and take action right away.
