Macronutrients are essentially what give your body energy. Made up of fats, protein and carbohydrates, these nutrients play an important part in your health. This is why the Tammy Fit app tracks them for you! We want to make sure you’re getting the right intake for each of the three groups to reach your goals.

If your main goal is to build muscle on your body, you need to consume extra calories everyday so that you create a caloric surplus. This essentially means that we'll be helping you eat more calories than you burn to make sure you are consuming enough proteins, carbs, and fats to achieve your gains.

If your main goal is to lose weight, a caloric deficit will help you burn more calories than you consume. It is created by reducing the food intake and increasing physical activity. It's really hard to gain muscle in a calorie deficit. Monitor your progress and once you've lost the weight, you can then switch your goal around to focus on gaining muscle.

If you're on a meal plan, you don't even need to worry about the above. Selecting "lose" "maintain" and "gain" in the app will automatically tailor your meal plan to fit with the exact macros your body needs to achieve that goal!
