When paired with an Apple Watch, the PAR Golf app has the ability to automatically detect when you take a golf swing on the golf course as you play. This makes automatic stat collection a breeze so that you can focus on golf while on the course with minimal interaction with the app.
There when you need it for a yardage, but otherwise in the background.
PAR Golf should detect 100% of full swings with a golf club. As you get closer to the green, you may see reduced detection, however the algorithm should detect most pitches, chips, and many putts automatically.
If you are unhappy with the performance of swing detection, there are a few steps to debug to improve detection.
Make sure that app and configuration settings match your preferred way to play.
Handedness - are you right handed or left handed? Make sure this is set properly in PAR Golf Preferences under User Information.
Watch on Top - Is the watch face on the top side of your wrist (most common) or do you wear your watch on the palm side of your wrist? Default for the app is 'Watch on Top', but if this isn't you, make sure to change it in PAR Golf Preferences under 'Watch'
Wrist - Which wrist do you wear your watch on? This is configured in the Apple 'Watch' app on your phone (not PAR Golf). This should have been configured when you first set up your new Apple Watch.
Crown - Which way does the watch crown face (left / right)? This is configured in the Apple 'Watch' app on your phone (not PAR Golf). This should have been configured when you first set up your new Apple Watch.
If all of these are correct and you are still having issues. You should record some swings in the Swing Studio and notify the developer via in-app chat or email to dweb@pargolfapp.com
