Configure web page tracking for monitoring user abandonment during browsing

Browse abandonment automation is only effective when page tracking is enabled on ecommerce sites to monitor user's activity.

As of now, page tracking is supported on Shopify and Salesforce platforms, allowing businesses to benefit from this automated feature that targets customers who abandon the browsing process before making a purchase.

1. Log into the BayEngage app store by entering the correct credentials.

(To access BayEngage’s app store https://app.bayengage.com/login/)

2. Click on the "Settings" icon located in the lower-left corner of the screen.

3. In the "Settings" menu, Navigate to the “Tools” sections. Click on "Add-ons" to enable addon features.

4. From “Addons” section, click the toggle button to enable or disable the features for page tracking to monitor browse abandonment automation.

Tips:

Enabling this option will track and sync site users’ activity to the Bayengage application.

Disabling this option will not track and sync site users’ activity to the Bayengage application.

How to Setup Browse Abandonment - Automatically?

1. Log into the BayEngage app store by entering the correct credentials.

(To access BayEngage’s app store https://app.bayengage.com/login/)

2. On the BayEngage Dashboard, click "Automation" from the left-side menu.

3. Select "Create Automation" for new ones, or "My Automation" for existing ones based on your preference, and choose "Create Automation" to proceed.

4. Choose "When a user viewed a product" from “Pre-built recipes" for browse abandonment automation.

5. Type a , "Automation Title" on the popup and click on “Create”.

6. Within the Automation workflow, select Activity Filter, where you'll find two filters(Activity and User).

A. USER Filter: In the User filter, users who only viewed the product without adding to the cart will qualify for the automation and if the user adds to cart, does a checkout, or places an order, they will exit from the automation.

Note:

This condition includes all status that follows after adding to the cart, such as started, checkout, and placed order. The "Filter By" option can be used to select specific statuses, and in this case, all three statuses qualify for the user filter: add to cart, checkout started, and order placed.

If user does not enter the flow: If the user does not enter the flow filter, they will receive only one email for the configured duration. This prevents excessive email nudges that may negatively impact the customer experience.

B. Activity Filter: In the Activity filter, you can activate the browse abandonment based on specific product criteria.

(Please note: Browse Abandonment will only be triggered for users who have logged in or signed up through the popup)

7: After setting the User/Activity filter, A time delay ensures that we give the customer sufficient time to browse before we qualify them as "Browse Abandonment". Default is set to one hour, this can be modified according to the business's workflow.

(We recommend a minimum 1-hour delay before sending the browse abandonment email alert after meeting the specified user activity conditions)

8. To check the email workflow status, toggle it on/off to enable or disable the email triggers for the browse abandonment automation.

Understanding with a sample case:

User Filter browse abandonment (Without Activity Filter):

If a user A views 10 products, they qualify for the flow upon the first product view, subject to a time delay. In the absence of follow-up actions (add to cart, check out, or place an order), an email is triggered, referencing the first product that qualified the customer into the flow.

Browse abandonment for a specific product (With Activity Filter)

The customer will qualify to enter the flow only when they view product (A) based on the activity filter. If they meet the user filter criteria, they will receive an email after a time delay.
