Overview
Personal and work projects have one thing in common — they rely on structure and order. That's why we built Taskade on a simple hierarchy that consists of:
🧬 Apps (formerly Teams)
💡 Note: With Genesis, Teams/Folders/Subspaces are now called Apps. See our Guide to the New UI to learn more about Taskade Genesis.
Workspace Hierarchy
Workspaces
A workspace sits at the top of the hierarchy structure. It's your productivity space where you store all your projects and apps (more on that below). A workspace also lets you tag and filter projects and keep everything organized.
You can create multiple Genesis apps within a workspace.
Each new workspace is billed separately.
All workspaces come with a Home space.
Workspaces have unique members and permissions.
💡 Examples: A workspace represents your organization. You can create one for your startup or freelancing business. You can also set up a workspace for a large business with multiple teams and departments. Each workspace can host multiple Genesis Apps (formerly Teams/Folders/Subspaces).
Apps (formerly Teams)
Apps (formerly Teams/Folders/Subspaces) are collections of projects “nested” within a Workspace. Every app space has its own members, templates, and permissions. In Genesis, Apps also include a Preview tab that displays the app’s UI.
Genesis Apps are live, AI‑generated business applications.
Each App bundles projects, automations, agents, and media.
Create separate Apps for each client, product, service, or use case.
You can publish and share your apps with unique URLs.
Apps are private by default; invite collaborators or publish when needed.
💡 Note: Apps work like the former Teams/Folders for regular collaboration; the difference is they include a Preview tab where you can interact with your Genesis‑generated app. Each App also has its own members, and permissions.
Projects
Project is like a digital canvas. It can contain notes, to‑dos, documents, mind maps, images, videos, and more. Projects can also serve as database projects for your apps generated by Genesis to store and power user interactions.
A project is always located inside the Home or App space.
A project is always located inside the Home space or Team.
Each project can have separate collaborators and guests.
Genesis creates and configures projects automatically for your apps.
💡 Note: Genesis can auto‑create database projects from your prompt, wire them to the App UI (Preview tab), and keep them in real time sync. Databases default to Table view, support imports (CSV/Excel/Sheets), and can drive Automations and AI Agents. Read How Database Projects Work to learn more.
Blocks
Blocks are collections of tasks and subtasks in a project. A block can consist of many types of nodes, all grouped together under an H1 or H2 heading. You can quickly create blocks of identical tasks by clicking the ➕ Add Block button.
Tasks / Nodes
A Task/ Subtask (or "node") occupies a single line inside a project. Every task can have many subtasks, each with its own subtasks nested under it.
Taskade lets you quickly transform your tasks into:
⏺ Bullets
🔢 Numbers
🔡 Letters
ℹ️ Paragraphs
Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs appear at the top of every screen and show exactly where you are in the hierarchy, from Workspace ➝ App ➝ item (e.g., Projects) ➝ item. They’re interactive and designed for fast navigation as you move between spaces.
(1) Taskade logo: Returns to the top level with quick access to recent items.
(2) Workspace crumb: Shows the active Workspace; click to switch or create.
(3) App crumb: Shows the current App; click to switch apps or create.
(4) Item crumb: Indicates the active item (Projects, Agents, Automations).
💡 Note: For a full walkthrough, see our Guide to the New UI.
Horizontal Navigation
Vertical hierarchy adds another dimension to your workspaces and apps. It also gives you access to additional features and functionalities from a central dashboard.
Projects: The Projects tab aggregates all your projects within a Team/Workspace.
Tasks: The Tasks tab gives you a consolidated view of your tasks with due dates.
Roadmap: The Roadmap tab displays projects with due dates on a timeline.
Templates: Browse, customize, create templates for various use cases.
Completed Projects: View and manage finished projects.
Sidebar Navigation
The workspace navigation sidebar gives you quick access to the contents of your spaces, including projects, agents, AI teams, automations, and media.
Click a section to view its contents.
Click ⌄ again to collapse sections.
