Taxfyle is equipped to assist individuals regardless of their citizenship, including non-residents! To ensure that your tax return is handled appropriately, Taxfyle has an onboarding question specifically addressing non-U.S. residents who earned income in the U.S.

A non-resident alien is defined by the IRS as:

"Any individual who is not a U.S. citizen or U.S. national. A nonresident alien is an alien who has not passed the green card test or the substantial presence test. If you are a nonresident alien at the end of the tax year, and your spouse is a resident alien, your spouse can choose to treat you as a U.S. resident alien for tax purposes and file Form 1040 using the filing status “Married Filing Jointly.”

For more information please look here!

When filling out the onboarding questionnaire, you can indicate that you are a "non-resident" who earned income in the U.S. (which will trigger the requirement for you to file a Form 1040NR versus the standard Form 1040 for U.S. citizens). This information will help Taxfyle match you with a knowledgeable Tax Pro who has experience preparing non-resident tax returns so you're set up for success.

Pro Tip: Please note that if you need to file as a non-resident but don't have a SSN, ITIN, or Visa, you'll need to apply for an ITIN to be in compliance to file a U.S. tax return. Review this article for more ITIN details if necessary.
