Sending Messages from the Web Interface

The messaging (click here) feature on the school interface is a great way to send important broadcasts or individual messages to staff and/or parents. Messages sent from the web interface are site wide messages. Please note: recipients cannot reply from the mobile/tablet app to the website. If you want to receive replies, please use the chat section of the mobile/tablet app.

Sending Site-Wide Messages

Using the school interface, select ‘Messages’ using the menu bar on the left hand side of your screen.

  1. Enter your message

  2. Add any attachments (optional)

  3. Select who you’d like to send the message to (i.e. all of your parents, teachers or both)

  4. Segment by room (choose all rooms or specific rooms). If you do not want parents or teachers in a specific room to receive a message, uncheck the box next to the room name

  5. Select "Send message"

  6. You can view read receipt's after a message has been sent by selecting "view recipients" in green, next to any sent message. Once a message is read, you will see two green ticks next to the recipients name. See below for read receipt notice examples:

No time => Indicates that the user has not received this message yet

Only time => Indicates that the user has received the message but hasn't open it yet

Time + tick => Indicates that the user has received the message and has read it

0 ticks => Indicates that the user has not received the message yet

1 tick => Indicates that the user has received the message but hasn't opened it yet

2 ticks => Indicates that the user has received the message and has read it

How delivered messages and replies are sent or viewed

Please note, all messages sent from the web management interface, deliver individually (recipients cannot see anyone else's replies). All replies can be viewed on the TeachKloud: Childcare App or on the School Interface here or by selecting messages > teacher messages > teachers name > room. Learn more about the mobile app’s instant-messenger here.

Disable Group Messaging on the TeachKloud Mobile App for Staff and Parents

Note: Disable group messaging, if you do not want parents and teachers to be able to engage in group chat via the mobile apps for teachers and parents. Group chat can be disabled using the web management interface > Messages section (top of your screen under the heading 'Manage group chat') on school.teachkloud.com. If group chat is disabled, group messages using the mobile app will not be available for parents or teachers.

Teachers will still be able to send and receive individual and private messages from individual parents using the mobile app. School admin's will also still be able to send bulk messages using the School Interface > Messages section. These will deliver to the parent app, as an individual / private message.
