Allowing Teachers to View Notes from Sessions with Other Teachers

Written by Teachworks Support

By default, teachers can only view lesson notes for classes they have personally taught. However, if an teacher is substituting for a colleague and needs to review a student's academic history or past notes from a different teacher, they can do so right from the calendar.

Steps for teachers to view a student's past notes

  1. Click on the lesson on the Calendar and click "View" in the pop-up window.

  2. Click on the Student's Name to open their profile.

  3. Scroll down to the "Recent Lessons" section, which displays the student’s 10 most recent lessons.

  4. Click on any Lesson Title in this list to open the lesson details and read the notes recorded by the previous teacher.

NOTE: If you prefer to restrict privacy so that teachers can't see a student's history with other teachers under any circumstances, you can disable this workaround globally. This will force the "Recent Lessons" and "Upcoming Lessons" sections on the student profile to only show that teacher's lessons.

To turn this restriction on, please see our guide here: Limit Teacher View of Student Recent & Upcoming Lessons to Only Their Own.
