Surfboard's uses the rules you create inside activity plans to automatically schedule your team's activities.
If you find that one of your activities are not being scheduled there are few things you should check:
Check rule priority
Each activity rule is scheduled in priority order (top to bottom) so if a rule is too far down the list you may not have enough capacity to schedule it.
You can change the priority of rules by by moving them up or down in the activity plan list.
Check you using the correct surfer assignment
For each activity rule you have the option to select which surfers should be included. You can find this at the top of the form when you create/edit an activity rule. The option you have are:
Anyone trained on the selected activity - includes anyone who has been been assigned this activity as a skill. See more on this below.
Surfers on specific shifts - includes anyone who is working the selected shifts
Specific surfers - includes only the surfers selected
All surfers - includes everyone on shift
Check you've assigned skills to surfers
Within Surfboard you have the option to assign skills to surfers. Skills tell Surfboard what activities each surfer is able to work on and makes it easier to manage when creating your activity rules.
You can assign skills to surfers by:
Going to day view in the schedule
Click "add activities" to open the activity sidebar
Click edit on an activity and you'll see the option to assign surfers the activity. From here you can select everyone who is able to work on the activity.
That's it! Just remember to make sure you use the "Anyone trained on activity" option when creating rules as mentioned above.
You can also manage surfer skills from the surfers page:
