At my ball with watch shot detection (beta)

Your watch follows every shot and asks for the club: one tap and it's saved.

đŸ‡«đŸ‡· Français · 🇬🇧 English

In At my ball mode, your watch can enter your shots for you: it recognises every ball you strike, follows your walk to your ball and asks you for the club. Nothing is saved without your tap. This feature is in beta and only open to beta testers.

Turn it on

  1. Open the course page and choose the At my ball input mode.

  2. In Round options, leave Shot detection on (it's on by default). Sound on detection plays two notes each time you strike a ball.

  3. Start your round. The first time, Teech asks whether you play right- or left-handed.

These options only appear if your Apple Watch is paired with the Teech app installed. In Simple mode, there's no detection.

On your watch, shot by shot

  1. Hit your ball. Your watch vibrates and shows Shot 1 detected. While you walk, it shows the distance covered.

  2. Hit your next shot. Your watch understands you were at your ball: it shows the distance of the previous shot and suggests 2 or 3 clubs, based on your usual distances.

  3. Tap the right club. Not suggested? Other club opens your whole bag. If the hole map doesn't know the lie, your watch asks for it (Choose lie).

  4. The shot is saved just as if you'd entered it by hand, and your watch is already following the next one.

The other buttons:

  • At my ball: once you reach your ball, tap it to finish the shot right away, without waiting for your next swing.

  • Cancel: it wasn't a shot (false detection).

  • Ignore: this shot isn't saved, you'll enter it by hand. Your watch keeps following the next one.

  • Two shots? Check before confirming.: the shot is longer than any of your clubs, so a swing was probably missed in between.

What counts as a shot

  • Only struck balls count: practice swings are silently ignored.

  • The first shot of the hole must start from the tee: if your drive wasn't detected, your watch doesn't make up a shot.

  • Your watch needs accurate enough GPS and you need to be on the course: otherwise, the swing is ignored.

  • When you change hole, anything waiting for your confirmation is cleared.

Entering or fixing shots by hand

  • The usual entry is still there: Enter a shot on the watch, penalties and the iPhone work as before.

  • A shot entered by hand, on the watch or the iPhone, replaces what your watch was waiting for: no duplicates.

  • You entered a shot by hand and it's waiting for At my ball? Your next swing, played from your ball, finishes it automatically.

  • To fix a shot already saved, do it as usual on the iPhone: press and hold its marker.

On the green

  • Your watch never suggests the putter: enter your putts as usual.

  • Once your ball is on the green, your watch stops linking shots until the next hole.

  • Your approach didn't end with a detected swing (putt not recognised, ball picked up)? Tap At my ball next to your ball to finish the shot.
