To ensure security, compliance, and trust across the TELA platform, all users are required to complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification before accessing core features.

Without completing KYC verification using your BVN and (optionally) CAC registration details, you will not be able to use TELA’s business features.

This policy protects you, your customers, and the platform.

What Is KYC?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is a standard identity verification process used to:

  • Confirm the identity of business owners

  • Prevent fraud and impersonation

  • Comply with financial regulations

  • Protect customer transactions

KYC helps maintain a safe and trusted marketplace for everyone.

What Is Required?

To complete verification, you must provide:

1. BVN (Bank Verification Number) – Mandatory

Your BVN is required to:

  • Confirm your identity

  • Validate ownership of your account

  • Enable transaction processing

  • Protect against fraudulent activity

Your BVN is securely encrypted and handled according to data protection standards.

2. CAC Registration (Optional but Recommended)

If you operate a registered business, you may provide:

  • CAC registration number

  • Registered business name

Providing CAC details:

  • Increases trust and credibility

  • Strengthens your business profile

  • Allows your account name be in your business name

  • May unlock additional business features in the future

Why KYC Is Mandatory

Without completing BVN verification:

You will not be able to:

  • Accept customer payments

  • Create or publish a store

  • Process transactions

  • Access financial reports

  • Use business management tools

KYC must be completed before full access is granted.

How to Complete KYC Verification

  1. Log into your TELA dashboard

  2. Navigate to Account Settings

  3. Click Verification

  4. Enter your details

  5. Submit for verification

If adding CAC details:

  • Enter CAC registration number

Verification may takes 1 minute to process.

Is My Information Safe?

Yes.

Your information is:

  • Encrypted

  • Securely stored

  • Used only for identity verification

  • Not shared publicly

TELA follows strict security and compliance standards to protect user data.

What Happens If I Do Not Complete KYC?

If KYC is not completed:

  • Your account will remain restricted

  • Transactions will be disabled

  • Business tools will be inaccessible

To unlock full functionality, complete verification immediately.
