How to Add and Pay Rent With Chime and CashApp on the Tenant Portal

Pay rent on the DoorLoop Tenant Portal using Chime or CashApp—both provide routing and account numbers that work like a standard bank transfer.

Overview

While you can make rent payments with a credit card or bank account (ACH), you can also now make payments with your Chime or CashApp account. This is because both these apps provide a unique account and routing number that mimic that of a traditional financial institution. That means you can make payments using the ACH option on your tenant portal and enjoy lower service fees in the process.

The Steps

Add and Pay with Chime as a Payment Method

When you open a Chime account, this gives you access to a free Chime checking account (More info here). What this means is that you are also given a Bank Account and Routing Number that you can use in your tenant portal to set up an ACH payment.

How to find your Chime Checking Account and Routing Number

  1. Log in to your Chime Account via the Chime mobile app or at chime.com.

  2. Go to the Move Money section of your Chime Account and select Direct Deposit.

  3. The name of bank that provides banking services for your Chime Checking Account, along with the Routing Number and Checking Account Number will be visible on the Direct Deposit screen.

Setup your Chime payment method in your tenant portal

With your Account Number and Routing Number in hand, you can now go through the process of adding and verifying your checking account on your tenant portal and start making payments. I suggest reading the full article on How to Add a New Payment Method on the Tenant Portal which is a step-by-step guide on how to set this up.

When creating a new Payment Method, use the Bank Account (ACH) option. Then choose "Enter bank details manually." You will need to verify your bank account by confirming small deposits in your account (this can take 1-2 days). You can not proceed through the payment process until you complete the verification process.

Add and Pay with Cash App as a Payment Method

If you have a Cash App account, Cash Card must be active on your account or the routing/account numbers may not appear. When you create a Cash App account, you are assigned a unique Cash App routing number that is linked to your account. This routing number is associated with the bank that supports your Cash App transactions. What this means is that you are also given a Bank Account and Routing Number that you can use in your tenant portal to set up an ACH payment.

Locating your Cash App routing number and account number

  1. Launch the Cash App on your mobile device.

  2. Click the Money tab.

  3. Next to your Cash Balance, click Account & Routing.

  4. From here, you should see the Routing Number and Account Number details.
