Before you get started with the Tended devices on-site, you'll need to start your site's pre-drawn safe zones (geofences) on the Dashboard. You may also, from time to time, need to stop a site early due to changes in the work package or temporarily pause to wait for an area to become safe again.

This article covers how to start, stop and restart a site. Let's dive in πŸ‘‡

Safety information about start, stop and restart

Please note: Tended geofencing systems are not a replacement for any existing safe system of work processes. Please always follow your internal processes and fall back on these procedures.

You may need to pause, fully stop a worksite, or restart a site from time to time. This is quick and easy to do within the Dashboard. You may need to do this because:

  • You've had a call from a signaller saying a freight carriage is coming through, as these are unscheduled and can't be predicted

  • You've not been given the go-ahead to safely start

  • You're working on three lines and work finishes on one line, so the safe zone (geofence) for this line needs to be stopped whilst the other two safe zones are still active

  • You've noticed another safety issue that means you cannot allow the team to enter site, or need to leave site unexpectedly

How to start a site

  1. Log in to your Tended Dashboard.

  2. Find your project and click "View project".

  3. Click "Start/stop sites" at the top of the page.

  4. From the list of options, pick which site you would like to activate and click "Start site".

  5. You will be shown an overview of site. Once you're ready, click "Make site live".

  6. You can now close the pop-up in the bottom-left corner by pressing the "X".

How to stop a site

Please note: Tended devices that are within a site's safe zone when it's stopped will emit the exit safe zone alert.

  1. Log in to your Tended Dashboard.

  2. Find your project and click "View project".

  3. Click "Start/stop sites" at the top of the page.

  4. From the list of options, pick which site you would like to stop. Click "Stop site".

  5. You will be shown an overview of your site. Once you're ready, click "End site".

  6. IF you have live devices in asset mode assigned to the project, you'll be shown this*:

  7. You can choose to:

    1. View the location of the live asset on the map by clicking "Show on map". This allows you to identify the asset and the information needed to efficiently follow your line clear process

    2. Stop the site regardless of the live asset by clicking "Stop site anyway". You'll then need to confirm you understand stopping the site will trigger the live device within to alert.

      1. Optionally, leave a note as to why you have stopped a site that still contains a live asset.

Important note: If a user makes the call to stop a site that contains a live asset this will be recorded on the project audit log.

*We recommend a site that contains a live asset is only stopped by/with authorisation from the person responsible for site safety i.e. ES or CoSS.

How to restart a site

Please note: You cannot restart a site after the end of your project date

  1. Log in to your Tended Dashboard.

  2. Find your project and click "View project".

  3. Click the "Start/stop sites" button at the top of the page.

  4. Click "Restart site" on the site you want to re-activate.

  5. Click "Make site live".

  6. Click "X" to close this model.
