The Contact Form and Mailing List serve two different purposes:

Contact Form
- Allows visitors to send you a direct, personal message via email.

Mailing List
- Collects email addresses from visitors who opt in to receive updates, announcements, or newsletters from you.

Think of the Contact Form as one-to-one communication, and the Mailing List as one-to-many communication.
