Why the Report Builder Matters
While Netstock provides many standard reports, the Report Builder offers flexibility for users who require customized data views.
It allows you to:
Select exactly which data fields you want to include.
Filter for specific subsets of items or locations.
Save report structures to be automatically generated daily with fresh data.
This feature streamlines your reporting process, reduces manual data preparation, and provides consistent, repeatable insights tailored to your analytical needs.
Note: At present the Report Builder does not offer the functionality to add custom fields or formulas. Should this be needed, kindly reach out to your Netstock consultant to assist with generating a custom report.
How to Use the Report Builder
Step 1: Create a new report
Navigate to the Report Builder screen from the main menu.
Click Add report to open the configuration screen.
Complete the report details:
Type: Select a base report type. Pre-selected columns depend on the type and can be edited.
Description: Enter a clear, descriptive report name.
Filename: Specify the file name for downloads.
Heading row: Tick to include column headings in the export.
Row limit: Set a maximum number of rows, or leave blank for no limit.
Generate daily: Tick to automatically generate the report each day with fresh data, or leave blank for a once-off report. Once-off reports remain until deleted and can be run manually.
Private: Tick to make the report visible only to you. Untick to allow others to view and edit the report.
Click Add to create the initial report structure or Cancel to return to the main screen.
Step 2: Customize your report
Once your report structure is created, you can define its content and presentation.
Add a filter: Click Add a filter to restrict the dataset based on criteria such as location, classification, or supplier.
Add columns: Click Add a column to include the data fields you want in your report.
Add sort order: Click Add sort order to choose the column used for sorting. Only columns already added to the report will be available.
Part 3: Run and Manage Reports
Preview: Click Preview to view a sample of the report.
Run and download: Click Run and download to export the report.
Manage saved reports: Use the buttons in the rightmost column of the report list to edit, delete, or download existing reports.
When Report Builder is not enabled, you can still create, edit, and preview reports, but downloads will be locked.
Clicking Run and download will redirect to: https://content.netstock.com/report-builder-module, where access can be requested.
⚠️ Watchouts
Module availability: If Report Builder is not enabled, a lock icon will appear, and downloads will not be possible.
Formula limitations: The Report Builder does not support adding custom fields or formulas, so contact your consultant if you require a custom report.
💡 Tips
Rerun easily: Once-off reports stay on your list until deleted, which makes it simple to rerun them manually when needed.
Daily automation: Use the Generate daily setting for reports that must refresh automatically with the latest data.
Protect work: Mark a report as Private to prevent accidental edits by other users.
