Quick Summary: Master reporting and data analysis, from understanding standard and advanced reports to requesting specialized data views tailored to business needs.

Understanding Reporting in the App

Reporting is the analytical counterpart to your operational dashboards.
While Dashboards highlight what requires attention today, Reports provide the data needed to understand why performance looks that way and how it has evolved over time.

Reports enable you to:

  • Track long-term trends across inventory, orders, and suppliers.

  • Compare actual performance against targets or model values.

  • Export data for deeper analysis in external tools such as Excel or Power BI.

Reports vs. Dashboards

Dashboards

Reports

Action-oriented: drive daily tasks (orders, exceptions).

Analytical: provide deeper visibility, trends, and insights.

Update daily, focused on β€œwhat’s urgent today.”

Can cover historic periods, trends, and comparisons.

Used by planners/operators.

Used by managers, analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders.

πŸ’‘Together, they form a closed loop: Dashboards help you act, Reports help you learn and improve.

Report Types

Standard Reports

These are the many pre-built reports available throughout the app, typically accessed by drilling into a KPI panel or screen. All table view reports can be downloaded to a CSV file for further analysis.

Use Case: Quick, common analysis, like reviewing all excess items for a location.

Report Builder

This flexible feature allows you to build, save, and reuse your own custom reports by selecting datasets, filters, and fields.

Use Case: Creating a recurring weekly report on specific product groups that isn't available as a standard report.

Advanced & Custom Reports

Advanced Reports offer greater flexibility than standard ones, allowing for specialized views, combined datasets, or automated delivery.

Use Case: Analyzing forecast error, inventory aging, or policy overrides with a specialized report.

They are created by the support or implementation team based on your business requirements.

Data Source for BI

This feature allows you to connect Netstock data directly to an external Business Intelligence (BI) tool like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio.

Use Case: Integrating Netstock data into a centralized company data warehouse for enterprise-level analytics.

⚠️ Watchouts

  • Data accuracy: Reports reflect what is currently in the system. If your master data is incorrect, the report outputs will also be misleading.

  • Access levels: Certain Advanced Reports are restricted to specific user roles. Confirm your permissions before requesting access.

  • Redundancy: Always review existing reports first to avoid duplication.

πŸ’‘ Tips

  • Cross-functional preparation: Use reports to prepare for meetings such as Sales and Operations Planning or supplier reviews.

  • Targeted filtering: Before downloading a report, apply filters on the screen to narrow your selection so you only work with the data you need.
