How to change your device to use the Google DNS server

Introduction

There could be several reasons to switch to the Google DNS server, including improving browsing speed, resolving Local Streaming issues, and more.

Instructions for Mac

  1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.

  2. Select "Network", you will see something like this:

3. Select the network interface with the green dot, e.g. "WIFI" or "Ethernet"

4. Click "Advanced"

5. Click the "DNS" tab

6. Click the + button to add the new DNS server (8.8.8.8) and then "Apply"

Instructions for Windows

  1. Go to the Control Panel

  2. Click on Network and Internet

3. Click on Network and Sharing Center

4. Go to Change Adapter Settings

5. You’ll see some network icons here. Select the network you’re currently connected to and right-click on it. Select Properties

6. Click on IPv4 and select Properties

7. If “Obtain DNS server address automatically” is selected, click the radio button next to “Use the following DNS server addresses:

8. Now enter the DNS addresses you want to use
