Introduction
TetherX supports any camera that is either ONVIF compatible or has either an RTSP or an HTTP stream. This means upward of 99.99% of the cameras on the market.
Many cameras are detected automatically, others can be added by finding the primary and secondary RTSP path in the manual. If this is not available, you may need to ask the manufacturer of the camera for this.
Tested Cameras
While most cameras will work with TetherX, we have a database of over 7,000 tested models. If your model is not on the list, please get in touch with us and we will confirm if the camera will work.
Automatic Camera Detection
Any ONVIF camera or camera that has an RTSP stream on port 554 or 7070 will be automatically detected by TetherX and added to your Cameras page. You can always find your cameras in the Admin section.
Adding Cameras Manually
Any cameras that were not auto-detected for any reason, for example, cameras with HTTP streams or cameras on a different network, can be added manually by clicking on Add Camera on your Cameras page.
Testing Cameras Streams
If your camera is not working for whatever reason, please try opening the RTSP URLs provided in the camera manual in a video player such as VLC.
This will allow you to confirm that the camera is indeed working as expected. Please get your camera playing with a player like VLC before trying to add it manually to your Timeline.
