TetherX is a flexible, cloud-based platform optimised for seamless use across all devices, including PCs, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. Our platform supports both H.265 and H.264 for high-quality video playback without additional software requirements, relying on compatible browsers and hardware.
While H.265 playback is increasingly viable, it still depends on both browser and hardware support. Many devices, especially Android phones, may face issues without H.265 hardware decoding capabilities, which are essential for playback even in compatible browsers. Please note that playback issues on unsupported configurations are beyond TetherX’s control.
Browser and Device Compatibility:
Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome have limited support for H.265, requiring hardware support and specific configurations. Safari on iOS and macOS natively supports H.265, and Samsung Browser on Android offers partial support on devices with appropriate hardware. Firefox currently does not support H.265 playback. For further compatibility details, refer to the list at Can I use HEVC.
Recommended Hardware for H.265 Playback:
For optimal performance on browsers or native applications, devices should meet the following hardware specifications:
Discrete GPU:
• Intel DG1 and above
• NVIDIA GT635, GTX645 and above
• AMD RX460 and above
Integrated GPU:
• Intel HD4400, HD515 and above
• AMD Radeon R7, Vega M and above
• Apple M1 series and above
