In order to create a commission rate, we will first head to the customize section and click on the Business Builder option: Royalty.

Within the "Royalty" builder area, you have the option to edit existing royalty rates, or creating new ones if you want to.

You will need to include a name for the royalty.

Make sure that the royalty is Enabled (blue toggle is on) to apply royalties to all orders created.

You have the option to include a description as well if you want some internal messaging about how the royalty is calculated.

Choose your billing period (Monthly, Twice Monthly, Yearly). This will be when royalties are made billable.

The rate that you pick (Gross Sales/Net Sales) will be the monetary total that the percentage you enter is based on. Gross sales are the grand total of all sale transactions reported in a period, net sales are defined as gross sales minus discounts and refunds/returns.

If you are including a minimum fee, enter that value in the line below.

Choose the start date that you would like the system to start calculating royalties.

Next is confirming which locations are going to be part of this royalty. The default will be to include all locations and products.

However, you have the option available to you to make special exemptions to either specific products or locations if you don't want them to be part of this royalty.
Ex. A legacy franchisee that has a different rate from everyone else would be exempt from the standard royalty you have in place. You could also exempt specific services that the franchisee is responsible for, and does not owe the franchisor for putting in place.

You can create an override for specific locations, and give a different rate to them but still have them included in the particular royalty set-up.

Lastly are the inclusions. These are set to include everything by default, but you can narrow down who specifically should be included.

Once you're all finished with the set-up of your royalty structure, click the Save button to finalize your changes.
