A recording engineer, designated by the client, is required for all recording sessions. The engineer is responsible for all management, use, and care of the studio equipment, as well as successfully loading in and out of the studio on time. The engineer is required to be physically present for the entirety of the recording session.

TRC is proud to be an all freelance, bring-your-own engineer facility, which means that you can choose a recording engineer that fits your budget and creative style. We believe that artists should have the opportunity to choose an engineer they want to work with, and that the process of vetting technical and creative collaborators is an important component of developing as artists and entrepreneurs. This also helps to create opportunities for Boston’s many freelance engineers!

We highly recommend choosing an engineer and coordinating with them before making your reservation. This is the best way to ensure that your session can be confirmed ASAP!

If you don’t have an engineer that you typically work with, or don’t know where to start looking for one, don’t worry! We host a group on Facebook that we call the “TRC Network”. Simply post on this page with some info about your project, and engineers can respond directly to your post. Please be sure to check out the page guidelines before posting. If you don't use Facebook, if you want advice on vetting freelance engineers, or have any other questions, please contact us directly!

If you'd like to become approved to engineer recording sessions at TRC (or even just use the recording studios on your own for production), learn more here.
