The Ticker device is a small box that plugs into your car. It uses telematics (or black box) technology to collect data on how you drive.
You get a small device through the post within a few days of your policy starting. It plugs into a port in your car called the Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) port, which is what a mechanic uses to run diagnostic testing. The device then collects data on things like speed and how smoothly you drive. At renewal, you’ll get a discount if you’ve driven well.
Our particular device is made by a company called Trakm8, one of the foremost telematics providers in the UK. It's included in the cost of your policy and it comes through the letterbox, so you don't need to worry about being home for it.
