In the Settings and Admin area you can decide how you want your student names to appear in things like charts, leaderboards and at the end of Arena games.
Depending on the specific setting, you can choose between "Rock Names", "First name and initial" or "Both."
The default for all settings is "Rock name":
Reducing the places online where real student names are visible is an important part of maintaining privacy so we set all the settings to "Rock name" as the default, as shown below.
What is a "Rock Name"?
When students first log in to TT Rock Stars, they choose an avatar name known as a Rock Name. This has the dual purpose of adding some extra fun into the game, and keeping students anonymous as they will only know each others Rock Names if they choose to share them.
For example:
Real name: Joe Bloggs
Rock name: Sparky Drummer
Changing from the default settings:
You can change these settings at any time; however, if you choose "First name and initial" or "Both" then we recommend considering on a termly basis whether you need names visible, or whether you could change this setting to show Rock Names instead.
To help you review this setting regularly, we will email your main contact every 6 months as a reminder to check these settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What name will be shown on the Festival leaderboard?
We will always show Rock Names. Festival is a game played by students in multiple schools so we show Rock Names and never real names of any kind.
What about names of students from other schools on leaderboards which involve multiple schools?
We will always show Rock Names. Top of the Rocks and national competitions such as England Rocks involve multiple schools. On leaderboards, your students names will be anonymised to Rock Names when viewed by students in other schools.
A student in my class does not want to be visible on leaderboards at all, even their Rock Name. What can I do?
Students have the option to hide themselves if they don't want their name or Rock Name to be visible. They can do this by going to their own "Settings" and choosing "Hide Me" as shown below:
By hiding themselves, they will override any teacher settings and appear as "Pupil is hidden" in all leaderboards and charts.
