4 things you need to know about the Fibonacci Avatar Season

  1. An Avatar Season is a limited-edition avatar outfit.

What is an Avatar Season?

An avatar season is when we make a special avatar outfit available for a short time. Students can only buy this outfit during the Avatar Season. Once the Season is over, it won't be available to purchase ever again. It's a common practice in most video games, so your students are probably already familiar with the term "Season".

Why are we introducing Avatar Seasons?

The limited time availability of the outfit will create a sense of urgency and encourage your students to log in and play. It also gives you another reason to talk about times tables and keep them front and centre of everybody's minds.

Why is it called the Fibonacci Avatar Season?

Each avatar season will have a theme, and we are starting with a doozy! Fibonacci!

For those not familiar, Leonardo Fibonacci was a mathematician born in Pisa, Italy, around 1170.

In one of his books, he introduced Europe to the Hindu-Arabic numeral system.

Before Fibonacci’s book, Europeans mostly relied on Roman numerals. Because of his work, the Hindu-Arabic system became the global standard.

However, he’s probably best known for coming up with the Fibonacci sequence. It starts with 0 and 1, and every new number is just the sum of the two before it.

Here’s an example: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34...

When this sequence is made with squares, it forms a special spiral.

What’s cool is that this pattern shows up all over nature—you can spot it in the way sunflower seeds are arranged or in the spiral of a seashell, or the petals of a flower.

How do I use the Fibonacci Avatar Season with my students?

Students can purchase the special avatar items from the avatar store with the coins they earn when they play TTRS. To make the most of the season, it's important that you introduce it to your students. You can show them our Fibonacci Season introduction video and put up the special poster.

These items will only be available between the 24th of November and the 31st of December 2025.

To help you get your students fired up about the Fibonacci season, we’ve made a short video that you can show them. It explains the concept of avatar seasons, introduces the items and explains how to buy them. It also explains who Fibonacci was, why he’s interesting, and the Fibonacci sequence.

We’ve also designed a Fibonacci season poster that you can print and put up in your classroom. You can find that in downloads > display.

When you show your students the video and put up the poster, you will have some super eager rockstars keen to unlock the whole Fibonacci season outfit by playing lots of TTRS.
