Pupils hacking their bank account to artificially increase their coins

Pupils appear to be giving themselves more coins in what they describe as a "hack". They may have heard about this trick from friends or from videos on YouTube.

This isn't really a hack, it's just a cosmetic, temporary illusion.

They use the code inspector in the browser to change what is being displayed so that it looks like they've got more coins. It's about as useful as tippexing out your bank balance and writing £1,000,000 in its place. It doesn't actually mean they suddenly have more money, or coins to spend, so celebrations and leaderboards won't be affected.

As soon as the child switches or refreshes the page, the number of coins will return to show the true number that they have earned.
